11th October 2016  | 16:00 -18:00 , followed by a cocktail  |  L42 Business Center & Workspaces Rue de la Loi 42, B-1040 Bruxelles

During this event, we will  discuss challenges and opportunities for the deployment of renewables in the heating and cooling sector, in order to ensure a true decarbonisation of our economies and honour our COP-21 commitments.

The decarbonisation of our economies will not happen without tackling the Heating and Cooling sector, which represents almost half of our energy consumption.

Renewable energy sources able to provide direct heat to households and industries are available and should be promoted to efficiently decarbonise the heating and cooling sector.

In the framework of the IEE FROnT project, a survey has been conducted to analyse end-consumers key decision factors when choosing a heating or cooling system. It results that the main barriers to switching to a renewable system are the lack of awareness and difficult financing.

Local authorities, consumer organisations and representatives of the manufacturing industry  have an important role to play in tackling these barriers.
